The Board consists of highly reputable scholars with extensive experience in law, economics, banking and Islamic finance. The members come from both within and beyond Kenya.
A South African National, Sheikh Ahmed Suliman is an Islamic scholar and currently Head of the Shari’ah department at the First National Bank in South Africa. He has previously served as a Shari’ah consultant to the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and has served on numerous bank Shari’ah boards in Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya. Sheikh Suliman is an expert on Islamic Jurisprudence. He is also a trained accountant.
He Holds Bachelor of Shari’ah from Al - Azhar University Egypt and Diploma in Islamic Banking from University of Khartoum, Sudan. He has been involved in various Islamic activities in the country including lecturing at various Islamic institutions and a host of “Shari’ah issues” program on a Radio Rahma. He is the founder and Director of Al - Hikma Training Center in Malindi, Kenya and a member of Kenya Islamic Madrasa committee under Muslim Education Council.
He is a renowned scholar in the region. He holds a PhD in Islamic Philosophy from Khartoum University, Sudan and a postgraduate diploma in Islamic Banking and Insurance from Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance, UK. He also holds a PhD and MSc in Animal Science from Reading University, UK and Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from Mosul University in Iraq. He has lectured in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Kikuyu Campus, University of Nairobi. Prof. Badamana sits in various national and regional financial institution’s Shari’ah Supervisory Boards.
